Economic Analysis of High Tech Industries

This course applies economic concepts from industrial organization (IO) to high-tech industries and to individual firms in these industries.  Students will learn how to conduct industry analysis and will complete two team projects.  Students will also be responsible for problem sets and providing feedback to classmates.

We will focus on these six industries:

  1. Ride-sharing
  2. Video Streaming
  3. On-line Retail / eCommerce
  4. On-line travel
  5. Payment systems
  6. Smartphones

Students will be placed in one of two sections. (Students may indicate their preference for which time they prefer.)

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30 - 9:50 a.m. (New Haven time)
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:10 - 11:30 a.m. (New Haven time)

No classes the weeks of Global Network Week and Thanksgiving in the US.

Clocks in the US fall back one hour on November 6.
