Global Network Week, the international program of the Global Network for Advanced Management (GNAM), was held this year at EGADE Business School, Santa Fe campus, from March 13 to 17. Global Network Week brought together more than students from prestigious international business schools that are members of GNAM, a global network cofounded by EGADE Business School.
Global Network Week is part of GNAM, the first global network of business schools, including 28 international institutions from every continent, with the mission of driving innovation and creating value by connecting leading global business schools, their resources, and their stakeholders.
Held every March and October since 2013, Global Network Week is an intensive, week-long exchange program that takes advantage of the different academic approaches and programs and the expert knowledge of the faculty of each of the participating business schools, in order to foster a global business outlook in MBA students.
This time, a group of 17 international students had the opportunity to take courses covering key topics in the regions where the GNAM has international business schools. The invited international MBA students were from the Yale School of Management (United States), IE Business School (Spain), Koç University Graduate School of Business (Turkey), Renmin University of China School of Business (China), Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile School of Business (Chile), HKUST Business School (China), and EGADE Business School. Together with their online counterparts, the students attended classes, visited important businesses in the region, and met with experts to analyze different current business trends covered in each course.
The international students who came to EGADE Business School, Santa Fe campus, took the course “Roadmap for Business Management in Latin America,” where topics covered included innovation and competitiveness in Latin American businesses, the challenges to growth, value added in “multilatinas,” strategies for internationalization, entrepreneurship in the region, and the management of cross-cultural teams. Besides the classroom courses, there were tours of businesses, such as 3M Mexico, and visits to the most notable museums and cultural and historical monuments in Mexico City, such as the National Museum of Anthropology and the pyramids at Teotihuacan.
Kenichi Tashiro, from the Yale School of Management, explained that, “Global Network Week is not just an opportunity to visit a country, but also to take advantage of the great GNAM network.” Dulith Wiewardene, from the same institution, noted that “EGADE Business School is a top school. I met many students from there at other Global Network Weeks, and I wanted to come and find out for myself.”
Meanwhile, Ipek Görgüç, from the University Graduate School of Business en Turkey, recognized that the week at EGADE Business School was a great experience, “with a great class of 17 students who come from different countries and have different careers.” Sorin Fedeles, from the Yale School of Management, noted that, “I wanted to experience, besides the classes, Mexico City, the culture, and the cuisine.”
