The focus of this course is to move from:
● the traditional static strategy process (annual or less frequent) offsite, generation of long document, limited implementation, and rigidity in rapidly changing circumstances, to
● a dynamic strategy that harnesses AI capabilities to enable live assessment of an existing strategy as changes occur, and a practical scenario planning framework to actively manage a forward looking and effective strategy.
This course is not about AI strategy but about business strategy using AI. The course moves rapidly from a baseline of what students already know about strategic models and analysis,
helping everyone advance and build on their base strategy knowledge. Optional, additional background readings will be provided for students who are motivated to join the course but need to fill knowledge gaps.
The course will combine live cases and applied project work. Students will form teams in class, working on a category and company of shared interest. With this focus, students will develop a skill in an AI of the team’s choice, to: a) prepare a strategy assessment and recommendations for the company in focus; b) to demonstrate that the skill is reusable on the same company as key factors change, and that it can be applied successfully to other companies and industries.
Completing the course will leave students equipped with a stronger understanding of strategy models, and an ability to build these into an applied, dynamic AI skill. Students can adapt and apply these to large or smaller company strategic challenges, as employee, consultant or job seeker.
