Lessons from Businesses that Successfully Grow

The COVID-19 crisis has brought trouble to many industry sectors and causing a considerable hole in the world’s economy. Retail, travel, and service sectors are some of the industries that are taking a massive economic hit, mainly due to social distancing/lockdown policy ensued after the pandemic. Nevertheless, this situation not only presented challenges for industries, but also opportunities for them to transform and grow. Indeed, certain business sectors have successfully adapted, experienced growth, and even thrived during the wide-felt lockdown. They are taking a bigger risks and accelerating their innovation activity to harness opportunities presented by COVID-19 crisis. A looming question is emerged: how can these businesses thrive, while many others are crumbling? How do they decide which opportunities to grasp? And which innovation approaches do they take?

This GNAM Week program will gather speakers from various background – academics, business representatives, policy makers and practitioners – to answer the questions presented above. Furthermore, participants will have the opportunity to discuss about innovation practices that are taken by businesses and how did it help them build a more resilient business. At the end of the program, participants need to work on a project in a team to implement the insights they gained during the program.
