The aim of this course is to provide a clear understanding of the possibilities of Business Intelligence, but also its shortcomings. The course provides an introduction to Business Intelligence as a function of information management, and explores how business problems can be solved effectively by using operational data and analytics. A large part of the course is dedicated on how to use high performance computing infrastructures and learn about their possibilities, but also their limitations. The course uses a selection of case studies to explore the components of Business Intelligence as well as the surrounding technical and social issues. A team of guest speakers with practical experience provide the course with a connection to the industry, while the coursework allows the students to deal with a real-world problem situation.
Prerequisite: Students must have previous knowledge of consumer behavior and marketing courses. This course also requires previous knowledge of Business Statistics.
